I like to use film because I feel this gives photos more character, in the same way that whilst listening to music on vinyl isn't as perfect as CD or digital, it too has more soul. I like the imperfections. I enjoy taking pictures of the things around me that please, or even amuse me.

My photography has really helped remind me how beautiful everyday scenes can be. Dusky skies, watery reflections and dimly-lit streetlamps not only offer some dramatic colour but, when teamed with curious angles, they also offer a perspective of the day-to-day often not seen before. Some images evoke giddy feelings of life sped up. Others the tranquility and relaxation of life slowed down. But all of them remind me that it’s the little things in life, the small moments – the changing seasons and the chance sightings – that can be the most moving. Toby K. Mason (aka fotobes) lives in Brighton, and shoots film.
